Stories of the Holocaust

A deeply moving journey into one of the most complex chapters of Holocaust history.
Discover Terezín not only through historical facts, but through the personal stories of the men, women and children who lived here — stories of persecution, courage, creativity, dignity and hope.
[ A PERSONAL INVITATION ]
Behind the history are individual lives and stories.
During World War II, Terezín — known as Theresienstadt — occupied a unique and deeply disturbing place within the Nazi system of persecution. It served as a Jewish ghetto and transit camp while being cynically presented by Nazi propaganda as a supposedly humane Jewish settlement.
But this tour is not simply about dates, numbers and places.
More than 150,000 Jews were sent here, including artists, musicians, writers, scientists, elderly people and thousands of children. For many, Terezín was only a temporary stop before deportation to extermination camps further east.

Together, we’ll try to understand Terezín through the experiences of the people who were imprisoned here — and the stories they left behind.

A NOTE FROM NATALIA
To understand Terezín, we need to look beyond the numbers and remember the individual people behind them.
Drawings, poems, music, letters, memories and testimonies allow us to see something statistics alone cannot show us.

My aim is to approach these stories with historical context and respect — and to help preserve the memory of the people who lived behind these walls.
[ THE EXPERIENCE ]
Understanding Terezín through the people who lived here.
We’ll explore the Small Fortress, which served as a Gestapo prison, and the former Jewish ghetto, including the Ghetto Museum and other important places connected with everyday life in Terezín.

As we move through these sites, we’ll look beyond the larger historical events to individual experiences: children whose drawings and poems survived when many of them did not; teachers who secretly continued their education; musicians and composers who continued to create and perform under extraordinary circumstances.
Persecution, propaganda & deception.
We’ll also explore one of the darkest aspects of Terezín’s history — its use in Nazi propaganda. The ghetto was cynically presented to the outside world in an attempt to conceal the reality of the persecution and deportation of European Jews.
Dignity, creativity & the human spirit.
Terezín is a place of enormous suffering, but its history is not only a story of death. We’ll discover how people tried to preserve education, culture, creativity and human dignity under conditions deliberately designed to take those things away.
[ MORE THAN SIGHTSEEING ]
Remembering the people behind the history.
The purpose of this visit is not simply to see a historical site, but to understand something of the lives that unfolded here.

Through surviving drawings, music, memories, letters and testimonies, we can move beyond dates and statistics — and remember Terezín through the experiences of the people who were imprisoned within its walls.
