For centuries, Nuremberg was one of the great cities of the Holy Roman Empire — a place of emperors, wealthy merchants, craftsmen, inventors, and artists.
Together, we'll explore its historic heart, from the mighty Imperial Castle to the lively Hauptmarkt, the Frauenkirche, and the famous Beautiful Fountain. Along the way, we'll discover medieval houses, atmospheric streets, hidden corners, and the world of Albrecht Dürer, one of the great artists of the Northern Renaissance.
Together, we'll explore its historic heart, from the mighty Imperial Castle to the lively Hauptmarkt, the Frauenkirche, and the famous Beautiful Fountain. Along the way, we'll discover medieval houses, atmospheric streets, hidden corners, and the world of Albrecht Dürer, one of the great artists of the Northern Renaissance.
But Nuremberg also holds a very different chapter of European history. During the Nazi era, the city became the setting for enormous party rallies. After World War II, it was here that leading members of the regime were brought before an international tribunal.
We'll explore the significance of these events and the Nuremberg Trials, which became a defining moment in the development of modern international criminal law.
